With South Dakota Public Broadcasting’s presentation of Ken Burns film “THE WAR” as center piece, we are dedicating this web site to telling a collective personal history of the World War II era. The stories within this web follow the theme of “What was it like for you?” This story collection is intended for use by any interested visitor with an interest in learning about this important time in American history through your personal recollections. As per SDPB’s educational mission, we will also be encouraging use of these multi-media histories as a classroom resource.
This site will continue to grow far past the television broadcast of “THE WAR”. If you would like to contribute to this story collection, there are a number of ways and materials you can share. Use the series of links above. You will also find links to more information about the Ken Burns documentary “THE WAR”.
